Gostern Single Leg Wire Rope Sling is the most common and versatile type of wire rope sling, designed for vertical lifting applications where a single attachment point is required. This sling features a wire rope body with terminations on both ends – typically a master link or eye on the top for connection to the crane hook, and a hook, shackle, or eye on the bottom for load attachment . Available in pressed (swaged) or hand spliced construction, with galvanized or ungalvanized (bright) finish .

This Single Part Wire Rope Sling is manufactured from high quality 6×37 or 6×19 wire rope , providing an excellent balance of flexibility and strength for general purpose lifting. The pressed (swaged) termination offers a compact, smooth profile with 90-95% efficiency , while the hand spliced termination preserves rope flexibility with 80-90% efficiency . Both ends can be fitted with thimbles for wear resistance, soft eyes for surface protection, or various hooks and fittings for specific applications . It is widely used as Single Leg Lifting Sling for overhead cranes and hoists, as Wire Rope Sling with Eyes for general rigging, as Single Leg Choker Sling for vertical lifting of cylindrical loads, and as Galvanized Single Leg Sling for outdoor and marine applications . Available in wire rope diameters from 6mm to 32mm , with standard lengths from 1m to 20m (custom lengths available) , and working load limits (WLL) ranging from 560 kg to 9,500 kg depending on rope diameter and configuration .

Termination Types:

• Pressed (Swaged) : Aluminum ferrule, compact, smooth, 90-95% efficiency

• Hand Spliced: Traditional hand tucking, flexible, 80-90% efficiency

• Wire Rope Clip: Mechanical clamp, field adjustable, 80-85% efficiency

End Fitting Options:

• Top End: Master link, eye (soft/thimble), shackle, hook

• Bottom End: Eye (soft/thimble), hook (slip/eye/grab), shackle, bare end

• Combination: Mixed fittings as required

Important Usage Guidelines:

• Inspect sling before each use for wear, broken wires, or damage

• Ensure proper end fitting attachment to crane hook and load

• Do not exceed rated working load limits

• For single leg vertical lift, capacity is 100% of rated WLL

• Do not use single leg sling at an angle – use multi-leg slings for angular lifts

• Protect wire rope from sharp edges using edge protectors

• Regular inspection per ASME B30.9 standards

• Replace sling if wire rope shows broken wires, kinking, or severe corrosion

• Store slings in dry, clean area when not in use
