Pressed Wire Rope with Multiple Legs
Gostern Pressed Multi Leg Wire Rope Sling is engineered for balanced lifting of heavy loads using multiple attachment points. These slings feature wire rope legs permanently terminated with pressed aluminum ferrules (swaged sleeves) , creating strong, compact, and reliable end connections . The swaged termination provides a clean, smooth profile with no protruding wires, making these slings ideal for applications where space is limited or where protruding spikes could cause injury . Available in single leg, two leg, three leg, and four leg configurations , with a common master link at the top and various end fittings (hooks, shackles, or thimbles) on each leg .
This Swaged Multi Leg Wire Rope Sling features a central master link that connects all legs, providing a single attachment point for the crane hook. Each leg is independently swaged to the master link and to the end fitting, ensuring even load distribution when properly rigged . The swaged aluminum ferrule creates a termination that is stronger than hand-spliced terminations (typically 90-95% of wire rope breaking strength) while being more compact . It is widely used as Pressed Two Leg Wire Rope Sling for lifting long loads like pipes and beams, as Pressed Four Leg Lifting Sling for large rectangular loads, as Multi Leg Pressed Wire Rope Assembly in construction and shipbuilding, and as Single Leg Pressed Sling for vertical lifting applications . Available in wire rope diameters from 6mm to 32mm , with working load limits (WLL) up to 10,000 kg or more depending on leg count, configuration, and lifting angle .
Leg Configuration Capacities (at 60° included angle) :
Single Leg (Vertical) : 100% of rated capacity
Two Leg (45°) : 1.4 × single leg capacity
Two Leg (60°) : 1.0 × single leg capacity
Three Leg (45°) : 2.1 × single leg capacity
Four Leg (45°) : 2.1 × single leg capacity
Choke Hitch: 0.8 × single leg capacity
Construction Features:
Pressed aluminum ferrule: Permanent, compact termination
Master link: Forged alloy steel, connects all legs
Wire rope construction: 6×37 or 6×19 for flexibility and strength
Galvanized finish: Corrosion resistance for outdoor use
Grade 1670/1770 MPa: High tensile strength wire rope
Termination Strength Comparison:
Swaged (Pressed) termination: 90-95% of rope breaking strength
Hand spliced termination: 80-90% of rope breaking strength
Wire rope clip termination: 80-85% of rope breaking strength
Important Usage Guidelines:
Ensure all legs are properly attached before lifting
Do not exceed the leg angle of 60° from vertical
For three and four leg slings, ensure all legs are taking load evenly
Protect wire rope from sharp edges using edge protectors
Regular inspection per ASME B30.9 standards
Inspect swaged fittings for cracks, slippage, or corrosion
We support Custom Multi Leg Wire Rope Sling, OEM, ODM and various end fitting configurations to meet different lifting requirements.
