The four-leg wire rope sling consists of four pressed wire ropes, lifting rings, and hooks, forming a quadrilateral structure. Each steel wire rope bears a certain force and through reasonable design and installation.

Gostern Four Leg Wire Rope Sling

Gostern Four Leg Wire Rope Sling is engineered for maximum stability and balanced lifting of large, rectangular, or heavy loads using four attachment points. This sling features a common master link at the top for connection to the crane hook, and four wire rope legs each terminated with hooks, shackles, or eyes for load attachment . The four-leg design provides the highest level of load stability, distributing weight evenly across four points and making it ideal for large rectangular loads, containers, heavy machinery, and rigid structures . Available in pressed (swaged) or hand spliced construction, with galvanized or ungalvanized (bright) finish .

This Quad Leg Wire Rope Sling is manufactured from high quality 6×37 or 6×19 wire rope , providing an excellent balance of flexibility and strength. The master link is forged from high-strength alloy steel, ensuring reliable connection to the lifting hook. For rigid rectangular loads, it is critical to note that only three or even two legs may actually bear the load due to the rigidity of the structure – the sling is rated assuming reasonably even load distribution . It is widely used as 4 Leg Bridle Wire Rope Sling for container and large equipment lifting, as Pressed Quad Leg Sling in heavy manufacturing and shipbuilding, as Four Leg Lifting Sling for Large Loads in construction and steel mills, and as Galvanized Four Leg Sling for outdoor and marine applications . Available in wire rope diameters from 10mm to 32mm , with standard leg lengths from 1m to 10m (custom lengths available) , and working load limits (WLL) ranging from 1,100 kg to 9,500 kg per leg , with total sling capacity dependent on the included angle between legs .

Leg Configuration Capacities (Total Sling WLL) :

  • Vertical Lift (0°) : 4 × single leg WLL

  • 30° Included Angle (60° from vertical) : 3.5 × single leg WLL

  • 45° Included Angle (67.5° from vertical) : 2.8 × single leg WLL

  • 60° Included Angle (75° from vertical) : 2.0 × single leg WLL

Termination Types:

  • Pressed (Swaged) : Aluminum ferrule, compact, smooth, 90-95% efficiency

  • Hand Spliced: Traditional hand tucking, flexible, 80-90% efficiency

End Fitting Options:

  • Hooks (吊钩) : Slip hooks, grab hooks, eye hooks, swivel hooks

  • Shackles (卸扣) : Bow shackles, dee shackles

  • Eyes (眼型) : Soft eyes, thimble eyes

Important Usage Guidelines:

  • Ensure all four legs are properly attached to the load before lifting

  • For rigid rectangular loads, be aware that only three or even two legs may bear load – use appropriately rated sling or larger safety factor

  • Do not exceed the rated capacity for the specific included angle

  • For included angles over 60°, capacity is significantly reduced – use longer legs or spreader bars

  • Always position master link directly above load's center of gravity

  • Use spreader bars to reduce leg angles for wide loads

  • Inspect master link, wire rope, and end fittings before each use

  • Protect wire rope from sharp edges using edge protectors

  • Regular inspection per ASME B30.9 standards

  • Replace sling if wire rope shows broken wires, kinking, or severe corrosion

  • Store slings in dry, clean area when not in use

1. Wire Rope Sling can be used as raw materials in galvanized or open-air environments for rust-proof performance.

2. The wire rope has the wear of the outer layer of the steel wire. It is mainly broken due to the metal fatigue caused by repeated bending around the hook and the object being lifted. Therefore, the ratio of the diameter of the hook or the object to the wire rope is determined to be used for the wire rope. An important factor in life.

3. The wear and corrosion degree of the surface layer of the steel wire rope or the number of broken wires within each twisting distance shall be scrapped when the number exceeds the specified value.

4. Steel wire ropes are mainly used in the transportation of high-strength ropes, such as lifting, pulling, etc., and it is strictly forbidden to stand or pass on objects under the hanging objects during use.
