Gostern Four Leg Wire Rope Sling
Gostern Four Leg Wire Rope Sling is engineered for maximum stability and balanced lifting of large, rectangular, or heavy loads using four attachment points. This sling features a common master link at the top for connection to the crane hook, and four wire rope legs each terminated with hooks, shackles, or eyes for load attachment . The four-leg design provides the highest level of load stability, distributing weight evenly across four points and making it ideal for large rectangular loads, containers, heavy machinery, and rigid structures . Available in pressed (swaged) or hand spliced construction, with galvanized or ungalvanized (bright) finish .
This Quad Leg Wire Rope Sling is manufactured from high quality 6×37 or 6×19 wire rope , providing an excellent balance of flexibility and strength. The master link is forged from high-strength alloy steel, ensuring reliable connection to the lifting hook. For rigid rectangular loads, it is critical to note that only three or even two legs may actually bear the load due to the rigidity of the structure – the sling is rated assuming reasonably even load distribution . It is widely used as 4 Leg Bridle Wire Rope Sling for container and large equipment lifting, as Pressed Quad Leg Sling in heavy manufacturing and shipbuilding, as Four Leg Lifting Sling for Large Loads in construction and steel mills, and as Galvanized Four Leg Sling for outdoor and marine applications . Important Usage Guidelines:
Ensure all four legs are properly attached to the load before lifting
For rigid rectangular loads, be aware that only three or even two legs may bear load – use appropriately rated sling or larger safety factor
Do not exceed the rated capacity for the specific included angle
For included angles over 60°, capacity is significantly reduced – use longer legs or spreader bars
Always position master link directly above load's center of gravity
Use spreader bars to reduce leg angles for wide loads
Inspect master link, wire rope, and end fittings before each use
Protect wire rope from sharp edges using edge protectors
Regular inspection per ASME B30.9 standards
Replace sling if wire rope shows broken wires, kinking, or severe corrosion
Store slings in dry, clean area when not in use
