Galvanized Hand Spliced Wire Rope Sling
Gostern Galvanized Hand Spliced Wire Rope Sling is manufactured using traditional hand tucking (hand splicing) techniques, creating strong, reliable eyes without the need for mechanical swaging equipment . Each sling is crafted by experienced splicers who interweave the wire rope strands back into the body using the Flemish eye (long splice) or conventional eye splice method, creating a secure, permanent eye that maintains the rope's natural flexibility . The hot dip galvanized finish provides superior corrosion resistance, making these slings ideal for marine, outdoor, and harsh environment applications .
This Hand Spliced Galvanized Sling features a smooth, tapered transition from the eye to the rope body, reducing stress concentration and providing excellent fatigue resistance . The hand splicing process preserves the original flexibility of the wire rope, allowing the sling to bend easily around loads and sheaves . The galvanized coating offers superior protection against rust and corrosion compared to painted or uncoated slings . It is widely used as Hand Spliced Wire Rope Sling in shipyards and marine construction, as Galvanized Cable Sling for outdoor lifting and rigging, as Wire Rope Sling with Flemish Eye for general industrial lifting, and as Marine Grade Galvanized Sling for dockside and offshore applications . Available in wire rope diameters from 6mm to 32mm , with standard lengths from 1m to 20m (custom lengths available) , and working load limits (WLL) ranging from 560 kg to 9,500 kg depending on rope diameter and configuration .
Hand Splicing Advantages vs. Swaged Termination:
Preserves rope flexibility: No rigid ferrule, bends easily
Field repairable: Can be re-spliced if damaged
Smooth transition: Tapered profile reduces stress points
No aluminum ferrules: No dissimilar metal corrosion concerns
Traditional craftsmanship: Proven reliability for decades
Splice Types Available:
Flemish Eye (Long Splice) : Smooth, tapered eye – most common
Conventional Eye (Short Splice) : Compact eye – for tight spaces
Endless Grommet: Continuous loop – no end fittings
Multi-leg configuration: Single master link with multiple spliced legs
Available Configurations:
Single Leg with Thimble Eyes: For wear-resistant connection
Single Leg with Soft Eyes: For delicate surface protection
Single Leg with Hooks: For quick attachment
Two Leg (Bridle) : For balanced lifting of long loads
Three Leg & Four Leg: For large rectangular loads
Endless (Grommet) : For choker and basket hitches
Common Applications:
Shipbuilding and shipyard lifting
Marine construction and dockside operations
Outdoor crane and rigging work
Offshore platform maintenance
General industrial lifting (non-marine)
Construction sites (outdoor exposure)
Mining and quarry operations
Agricultural lifting and towing
Important Usage Guidelines:
Inspect spliced eyes for loose strands, wear, or damage before each use
Check galvanized coating for corrosion, flaking, or damage
Do not use if splice shows signs of pulling out or loosening
Do not exceed rated working load limits
Protect wire rope from sharp edges using edge protectors
Regular inspection per ASME B30.9 standards
Replace sling if wire rope shows broken wires, kinking, or corrosion
For critical applications, consider proof testing upon request
We support Custom Length Hand Spliced Sling, OEM, ODM and various end fitting configurations to meet different lifting requirements.
