304 316 Stainless Steel Pressed Wire Rope Sling
Gostern 304 & 316 Stainless Steel Pressed Wire Rope Sling is manufactured from premium AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel , providing excellent corrosion resistance for demanding environments where standard galvanized or carbon steel slings would fail . The sling features pressed aluminum ferrule (swaged) terminations at both ends, creating compact, smooth, and strong eyes with thimbles or soft loops for load attachment . The stainless steel construction offers superior resistance to rust, chemicals, saltwater, and extreme temperatures , making these slings ideal for marine, offshore, chemical processing, food processing, pharmaceutical, and clean room applications . Available in 304 stainless steel for general corrosive environments or 316 stainless steel for enhanced resistance to chlorides and saltwater (marine grade) .
This Corrosion Resistant Pressed Sling features a smooth, snag-free surface with no protruding wires, ensuring safe handling and preventing contamination in sensitive environments . The pressed termination provides 90-95% of the wire rope's breaking strength , creating a permanent, tamper-proof eye that will not loosen under normal use . The stainless steel construction is non-magnetic (austenitic grade) , making it suitable for applications where magnetic fields are a concern . It is widely used as Marine Grade Stainless Steel Sling for shipboard lifting and dockside operations, as Food Grade Stainless Steel Lifting Sling in food processing and pharmaceutical plants, as Chemical Resistant Wire Rope Sling in chemical and petrochemical facilities, and as Non Magnetic Stainless Steel Sling for electronic and medical equipment manufacturing . Available in wire rope diameters from 3mm to 16mm , with standard 。lengths from 0.5m to 10m (custom lengths available) , and working load limits (WLL) ranging from 80 kg to 2,200 kg depending on rope diameter and configuration .
Stainless Steel Grade Comparison:
304 Stainless Steel: Excellent general corrosion resistance, suitable for most industrial, food, and chemical environments. Good resistance to organic chemicals and mild acids.
316 Stainless Steel: Superior corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides and saltwater. Marine grade – ideal for offshore, coastal, and seawater applications. Contains molybdenum for enhanced pitting resistance.
Termination Features:
Pressed aluminum ferrule: Permanent, compact, strong (90-95% efficiency)
Thimble eye: Drop forged stainless steel thimble for wear resistance
Soft eye: Flexible, non-marring loop for surface protection
Smooth profile: No protruding wires, safe for sensitive environments
Non-magnetic: Austenitic stainless steel construction
Available Configurations:
Soft Eye - Soft Eye: For delicate surface protection
Thimble Eye - Thimble Eye: For wear-resistant connections
Eye - Hook (不锈钢吊钩) : Soft/thimble eye on one end, stainless steel hook on other
Eye - Shackle (不锈钢卸扣) : Soft/thimble eye on one end, stainless steel shackle on other
Endless (Grommet) : Continuous loop - no end fittings
Single Leg, Two Leg, Four Leg: Multi-leg configurations available
304 vs 316 Stainless Steel - Selection Guide:
| Environment | Recommended Grade | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| General industrial / Indoor | 304 | Good corrosion resistance, cost-effective |
| Food processing / Pharmaceutical | 304 or 316 | Easy to clean, corrosion resistant |
| Chemical plants (non-chloride) | 304 | Resists most organic chemicals |
| Marine / Offshore / Coastal | 316 | Superior saltwater resistance |
| Swimming pools / Chlorinated water | 316 | Resists chloride pitting |
| Pharmaceutical / Clean room | 304 or 316 | Non-magnetic, easy to sanitize |
| Electronic manufacturing | 304 or 316 | Non-magnetic, prevents interference |
Common Applications by Grade:
304 Stainless Steel: General industrial, food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical (non-chloride), clean rooms, electronic manufacturing
316 Stainless Steel: Marine, offshore platforms, shipboard cranes, dockside lifting, swimming pools, coastal construction, chemical plants (chloride exposure)
Important Usage Guidelines:
Inspect sling before each use for wear, broken wires, or damage
Check stainless steel for signs of pitting or crevice corrosion (especially in 304 grade in marine environments)
For marine applications, 316 stainless steel is strongly recommended
Do not exceed rated working load limits
Protect wire rope from sharp edges using edge protectors
Avoid contact with strong reducing acids (stainless steel may be attacked)
Regular inspection per ASME B30.9 standards
Replace sling if wire rope shows broken wires, kinking, or corrosion pitting
Clean with fresh water after use in saltwater or chemical environments
Store in dry, clean area when not in use
We support Custom Length Stainless Steel Sling, OEM, ODM and various end fitting configurations to meet different application requirements
Stainless steel wire rope sling has high-temperature resistance, good fatigue resistance, excellent breaking tension, long service life, durability, and many other characteristics, widely used in coal, petroleum, metallurgy, chemical industry, ships, Bridges, electric power, rubber, military industry, tourism, water conservancy, light industry, and other industries
