6x9W+FC 6X9W+IWR Round Strand Steel Wire Rope
Gostern 6×9W Warrington Steel Wire Rope is manufactured from high quality carbon steel with good tensile strength, excellent flexibility and moderate wear resistance. This rope features 6 strands of 9 wires each in a Warrington (瓦林吞) construction – each strand consists of alternating thick and thin outer wires arranged in a special pattern . This design provides better flexibility than 6×7 while maintaining better wear resistance than standard 6×19 , offering a good balance of strength and flexibility for medium duty applications . Available with FC (Fiber Core) for added flexibility and shock absorption or IWR (Independent Wire Rope) core for increased strength and crushing resistance . Available in galvanized (zinc coated for corrosion resistance) or ungalvanized (bright) finish .
This Warrington Construction Hoist Rope features a 瓦林吞式排列 (Warrington pattern) where thick and thin wires alternate in the outer layer of each strand. This design increases the number of contact points between wires, improving flexibility without sacrificing too much wear resistance . Due to its good flexibility-to-cost ratio, 6×9W is often used in applications where 6×7 is too stiff but 6×19 may be overkill or cost-prohibitive . It is widely used as Medium Duty Lifting Rope for small hoists and winches, as General Purpose Hoist Cable for overhead cranes, as Traction Control Cable for agricultural and light industrial equipment, and as Galvanized Lifting Rope for outdoor and marine applications . Available in diameters from 3mm to 12mm , with Grade 1570 MPa to 1960 MPa tensile strength options .
Construction Features:
Warrington strand design: Alternating thick/thin outer wires
9-wire strand: Moderate strand size, good balance of properties
Good flexibility: Better than 6×7, suitable for smaller sheaves
Durable construction: Maintains reasonable wear resistance
Performance Comparison - 6×9W:
Flexibility: Better than 6×7, slightly less than 6×19
Wear Resistance: Better than 6×19, less than 6×7
Fatigue Resistance: Good for medium-duty cycles
Strength: Moderate, suitable for light to medium loads
Recommended Applications:
Small electric hoists and winches
Overhead cranes (light to medium duty)
Trolley and traversing lines
Cable controls and pull lines
Agricultural machinery
Core Selection Guide:
FC Core: Better flexibility, shock absorption – ideal for general lifting
IWR Core: Maximum strength, excellent crush resistance – ideal for rugged applications
Minimum Recommended Sheave Diameter: 20 × rope diameter (for FC core) | 24 × rope diameter (for IWR core)
Important Note: Do not exceed recommended working load limits. Regular inspection for wear, broken wires, and diameter reduction is required.
