Closed Swage Socket
Gostern Forged Closed Swage Socket is a high-strength, permanent wire rope termination fitting designed for critical lifting, rigging, and structural applications where maximum reliability and fatigue resistance are required. The socket features a closed (eye) design that provides a secure, enclosed connection point for pins or shackles, preventing rope slippage and ensuring long-term durability in high-load tensioning systems .Forged from special bar quality carbon steel with hardness controlled by spheroidize annealing for optimal cold forming characteristics .
This Forged Wire Rope Socket has a terminal efficiency rating of 100% based on the catalog strength of the wire rope when properly applied . Manufactured in compliance with ASME B30.9 and EN 13411-8 standards, requiring proof loading for all sling assemblies . Recommended for use with 6×19, 6×37, IWRC, IPS/EIP/EEIP, and RRL wire rope . Not recommended for fiber core or lang lay wire rope.Available in sizes from 1/4" to 2" with QUIC-CHECK® visual inspection for after-swage verification . Widely used for crane pendants, bridge suspension cables, guy lines, and heavy-duty lifting slings.
